Axie Infinity’s 2021 success story initially appeared to herald a new era of play-to-earn gaming, complete with global communities and rising token values. However, the project eventually crashed due to several critical issues: speculative economics with unsustainable tokenomics lacking real cash flow, high entry costs that necessitated scholarship programs, poor gaming experiences that attracted users solely for profit potential, and isolated Discord communities without lasting incentives.

The9Bit studied these failures and developed what they describe as a complete rewrite of the GameFi script. Their platform aims to create multiple value-creation pathways through an ecosystem serving gamers, creators, guilds, and influencers. The team describes their approach as combining elements from Steam, Discord, TikTok, and Binance into a single accessible platform.
