Sunday has arrived and it’s time to tackle today’s Wordle puzzle. For those who missed yesterday’s challenge, you can still find Saturday’s hints and solution in our previous post.
Today’s Wordle Challenge
Wordle continues to be the daily word puzzle that challenges players worldwide to guess a hidden five-letter word within six attempts. The game provides feedback through a color-coding system: green indicates a correct letter in the right position, yellow shows a correct letter in the wrong spot, and gray means the letter isn’t part of the word at all.
The Wordle Bot suggested starting with SLATE today, though many players choose their own opening words. Using CRATE as the initial guess proved effective, narrowing down the possibilities to just 54 remaining words while securing one green letter.
Solving Strategy and Analysis
The hint for today’s puzzle was “Herbal,” with an additional clue that the word ends in ‘Y’. These clues point toward something related to herbs or plants with that specific letter ending.
Following the opening guess of CRATE, the next logical step involved using SOILY to test additional letters. Interestingly, the Wordle Bot noted this as an excellent strategic choice, commenting that it represented one of the most efficient guesses possible in that situation, though the Bot typically limits its suggestions to more commonly known words.
I successfully solved today's Wordle #1507! The answer was 𝗥𝗜𝗗𝗚𝗘 and I completed it in 6 guesses.
Here's how it went:
1. 𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗘𝗨 – Found D and I in the word (wrong positions)
2. 𝗟𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗦 – Confirmed D in position 4, found R in word
3. 𝗧𝗛𝗜𝗥𝗗 – Discovered D is… pic.twitter.com/Xz6ljDPwmT— Ask Vy (@AskVy) August 5, 2025
The final guess of MINTY proved correct, solving the puzzle in three attempts. This word was chosen over other possibilities that contained double letters like FIFTY, WITTY, or KITTY.
Competitive Scoring and Etymology
In the ongoing competition against Wordle Bot, both achieved a three-guess solution, earning one point each with no advantage for either side. The August running totals now show Erik with 4 points and Wordle Bot with 3 points.
The competitive scoring system awards different point values based on the number of guesses required, with bonus multipliers on Fridays. Players can maintain running tallies or compete on a daily basis according to their preferences.
Regarding the word’s origins, “minty” derives from the noun mint, which traces back through Old English minte, Latin mentha, and Greek minthē. The addition of the suffix -y creates an adjective meaning “having the qualities or flavor of,” and this usage has been part of English vocabulary since the 19th century.
